The antique mirror look is achieved through the application of a spray backing during the manufacturing process which creates the appearance of weathering and age. Paints and chemical treatments can also be applied directly to the surface of the glass to achieve the dark spots, chips, and divots that are a hallmark of time-worn mirrors.
